WHETSTONE, Verna - Verna Eileen Whetstone, 90, formerly of Embro, passed away in PeopleCare - Tavistock on Thursday, June 14, 2018. She was born in Oxford County on August 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Donald and Olive (Dickey) Murray. Verna was predeceased by her husband, Warren Harvey Whetstone on September 16, 2002. She is survived by her four children, Ronald and wife Maureen Whetstone, Gail and husband David Truscott, Gwen and husband Don Kirkpatrick, Glen and wife Dawn Whetstone; seven grandchildren, Chris Whetstone, Haley and husband Danny Roth, Lee and wife Jill Whetstone, Kevin Truscott, Reid Truscott, Brad Whetstone and Jenny, Kylee Whetstone, and Ozi; eleven great grandchildren, Lyndsey, Elijah, Paige, Elli-Kate, Makai, Ari, Leighton, Blythe, MacKenzie, Calab, Cameron and Sophia; sister-in-law, Loretta Murray; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Helen Whetstone; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Raymond and Betty Murray, Bruce Murray; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty and Bob Matheson, Donna and George Matheson. There will be no funeral home visitation. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Verna will be held at Knox United Church, Embro on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11a.m. The Rev. Andrea Allan will officiate. Reception following. Private family graveside service at North Embro Cemetery following the reception. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated and may be made through the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME, TAVISTOCK, 77 Woodstock Street North by calling 519-655-2431 or at the church on Wednesday.
