DOBBYN, Gordon Ray - On January 22, 2014 at Parkwood Hospital Western Counties Wing - Veteran's Care, London, after a brief illness but brave fight, Gordon Ray Dobbyn, in his 95th year. Loving father of Cathy Lambert (Brad), John Dobbyn (Jackie), Dave Dobbyn (Cathy) and Gerry Dobbyn. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren John, Matthew, Christopher, Michael, Michelle and Mark, and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Brooklyn and Billie-Rose as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his wife of forty-eight years Madeline (2001) and brothers Lorrie and Garth Dobbyn. Born in Newbury, Ontario and raised in Blyth, Ontario, Ray moved to London and enlisted in the Canadian Army following the outbreak of World War II. After his service he fulfilled various roles before taking the position of Operator with London Transit which he held for twenty-eight years prior to retirement. Ray's interests were many, including music, whether playing trumpet in the band, or the banjo in the living room - a gift which he passed on to his family. He also engrained strong values in his family which he dearly loved. Family and friends are invited to call at FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL CHAPEL , 1997 Dundas St. E., London, ON on Sunday, January 26th from 3pm-5pm. Funeral service to be held at Parkwood Hospital - The Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Western Counties Wing, 801 Commissioners Road East, London on Monday at 11am with visitation at 10am. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of Parkwood Hospital and Dr. Kavanagh. Heartfelt thanks to Ray's long-time friend Barbara Martin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation - The Veterans Care Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
