Full Text

Born January 28, 1976, in Woodstock, ON, died suddenly and unexpectedly in Waterloo, ON on December 21, 2021. D'Arcy was deeply loved by his wife Carrah Goodman Johnston, and their three children, Francis, Adrian and Eleanor. They will love him and miss him forever. D'Arcy was the beloved son of Kerry Johnston of Toronto and Janette Johnston (Lindsay) of Cobourg, and little brother to Kathleen, Heather and Sarah Johnston. He was an adored uncle to eight nieces and nephews and was a much-loved in-law to the extended Goodman family. D'Arcy was a quiet, kind and easy-going man, whose family was the centre of his life. He was a graduate of Cobourg West Collegiate, and the University of Ottawa. He was a world traveller, having spent a year in Australia after university graduation. Back in Canada he moved to London where he met his future wife, Carrah, and went on to have a successful career in customer support. He worked for over 10 years at BlackBerry, and most recently at Marks Supply in Kitchener. D'Arcy was an avid Maple Leafs' fan, enjoyed walks in the woods with his dog Mo and the kids, and was known to do a New Year's Day dip in the Atlantic Ocean when he lived in Nova Scotia. He loved to joke and tease; it was his way of showing he cared about those around him. He had a profound sense of social justice and took a strong interest in politics. He always had an opinion about things, and that opinion was not easily changed! He loved dogs, playing hockey, and most of all, spending time at home with his family.

We will remember D'Arcy's dry wit and sense of humour, his thoughtfulness, his deep laugh, and his love for his children. Carrah, Francis, Adrian and Eleanor will remember him as a gentle and caring husband and father whose love for them knew no bounds. D'Arcy's family will receive relatives and friends from 4:45 - 7:45 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 54 Queen St N, Kitchener, on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Please note that you must register your attendance for visitation and service through the funeral home website and proof of vaccination is required. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the KW Humane Society, an education fund for D'Arcy's children, or a charity of your choice (cards available at the funeral home).
