It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Friend, Shirley Routledge-Cuthbert on December 6, 2021.

She passed peacefully at VON Sakura House with the love of family by her side throughout her journey home. Shirley was born February 6, 1925 to the late Elmer Bain and Bernice (Pitman) Bain. She was predeceased by her husbands, Norman Routledge and Vernon Cuthbert and her best friend, Louis Simmons. Shirley is the end of an era; being predeceased by her siblings, Lanore Fishleigh (Amerson), Roy Bain (Kathleen) and Norman Bain (Marg and Helen). Cherished Mother of Brian Routledge (Sandra) and Janine Campbell; Step-Mom to John Cuthbert (Bonnie) and Les Cuthbert (Wendy). She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Stephen Routledge, Erin Routledge, Rebecca Pallister (Chris), Kyle Routledge (Mandy), Dustin Campbell (Amy), Alisha Findlay (Mike), Jim DosSantos (Carla), Trevor Cuthbert (Janis), Troy Cuthbert (Charlotte), Travis Cuthbert (Eryn), Shelley Cuthbert, Kim Junko (Andrew) and Sean Cuthbert (Maria). She will also leave a huge void in the hearts of many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. You may remember Shirley from joining her for a Blue Jays game with Shirl's Bus Trips, or perhaps she taught you to drive or drove your high school bus. Although she stayed busy with her career, gardening, and volunteering, she always made time for a fun game of Euchre. Shirley was smart, resourceful, beautiful, funny, curious, resilient, and tough as nails. She regularly expressed her gratitude for all her family and friends. She will be missed thoroughly by so many people whose lives she touched. Fondly remembered by Alistair Campbell, Karen Routledge, and the Simmons Family. With much appreciation for services within our community, our family acknowledges the work of the Home and Community Care Support Services, including the VON Palliative team and PSW nursing. Special thanks to the Assisting Living Program and our private care Earth Angels who supported Mom and were the sole reason she was able to stay in her home as long as she did. We will be forever grateful to the team at VON Sakura House for their kindness and compassion during Mom's final weeks. Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. The service will be available to livestream at www.mcbeathdynes.ca by going into Shirley's obituary notice where it says click here. Everyone must be double vaccinated, masks and social distancing required. Those who wish to make a memorial donation are asked to consider VON Sakura House or Alexandra Hospital Foundation. Personal condolences may be posted at www.mcbeathdynes.ca.
