WALLACE, Kenneth

Kenneth (Ken) Wallace passed away peacefully with his wife Dianna by his side at their home in Woodstock on Sunday May 23, 2021. His battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis had come to an end. Ken was born at 2 Stanley Street, Castletown, England, and came to Canada, settling in Ingersoll April 25, 1946 with his mother Jennie Mawer-Wallace (1949) joining his father, John James (JJ) Wallace Rank SPR #A19533 Unit 7th Field Co RCE (deceased). Ken left behind his Grandma, a close friend Joan, who at the time was 12 and is now married to Tom Douglass. Ken had two brothers and two sisters Bill (Pat) Wallace and Jack (2019) (Diane) Wallace, sisters Donna (Alvin) Sherman, Dale (Jim, deceased) Charlton, and step-Mother Helen (deceased).

At the age of 41 Ken married Dianna on Dec 30, 1985 and became a very devoted loving husband, and became a father to eleven-year-old Michelle Milne Wallace (Chris).

In 1994 Ken returned to England with Dianna to meet his Cousins, Aunt Marion and Joan Douglas but also his mother's Midwife Hanna who had brought him into this world, she was alive and very alert and happy to see Ken, his mother's best friend, and the people of the town he left behind were all joyous. One lady came running out of the house yelling "wait", she asked if he was Kenny Wallace and he replied "yes". The lady said "we all knew you would return one day, you were named after one of our fallen soldiers in our town." It was a very emotional trip for Ken and Dianna. The house he lived in as well as the church he was baptized in were still there (they announced his name in Church as asked him to come to the front so they could pray for him - Church was to be taken down the next year.) Kenny was home, Castletown England was celebrating. A year before this trip, Ken had obtained his Canadian Citizenship. Ken was a member of the First Baptist Church Tillsonburg, and Ingersoll. His faith was strong with Jesus with the Lord at his side. Ken was also a member of the Ingersoll Senior Centre. Ken Worked at IMT- Ingersoll, Machine and Tool for 44 years and retired as an Inspector of the Axel Department at the age of 60. In retirement the proud Papa cared for a precious newborn grandchild Khloe Gamble, so that his daughter could continue to work. He was a proud father and Papa. Ken loved to travel and so did Dianna. Camping and motor homes, trailers they did it all. Florida, Yellowstone National Park, East Coast. West Cost, and the last trip 2015 and 29,000 km to all of Alaska with an 'A Liner' trailer and Ford Escape. Ken was an avid Sportsman and loved to hunt raccoon with his dogs and friends. He belonged to the Oxford Sportsman Club for numerous years, with his friend Keith Hamilton.

In 2016 Ken was diagnosed with the IPF condition. His condition had progressed from 2015 over the next 6 years, but he was able to get out to the United Steel Workers Event with the IMT workers during that time and what a thrill in his eyes to see his union brothers again. Ken leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of his family and his Sister-in-Law Darlene Walker, (Alberta), Aunt Marion and cousins in England and many friends over the years.

Special thank you to his PSW Ladies Jaclyn and Danielle, VON Day Program Ladies, Dr. H. Lamb. Palliative Team, Community Service Pare medics, Cynthia McKnight SWLYN and Woodstock Para Transit.
