Marie Alma Kaufman died peacefully surrounded by her family in Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday, September 26, 2019. She was born on October 3, 1927 in Blandford Blenheim Township; a daughter of the late Caroline and William Lotz. She was predeceased by her loving husband Don (2013). They were married for 63 years. Together they resided on the farm at Cassel on the 16th line until 1987. For the last three years, Oxford Gardens provided her with a caring home. Marie was a member of Hebron United Church and the United Church Women, a volunteer for the Woodstock General Hospital Auxiliary and a caring staff member of Comcare Health Services. She is survived by her five children, Susan and John Atkinson of Oxford Centre, Cathy and Doug Williams of Kitchener, Janie and Michael Ryan of Toronto, Kris Matheson of Lion's Head, Don Jr. and Kathy Kaufman of Woodstock; fifteen grandchildren, Leah (Jason) Barnes, Jonathan (Alison) Atkinson, Kerry (Josh) Cressman, Jessie (Mark) Hummel, Michael (Sandra) Williams, Caitlin (Jeff) Dean, Siobhan Ryan (Chris Randall), Ciaran Ryan (Zara McAlister-Ryan), Nevan Ryan, Adam (Joe), Scott (Carly) and Ryan (Sarah) Matheson, Kennedy, Karter and Jackson Kaufman; thirteen great grandchildren, Logan and Abby Barnes, Ryan and Megan Atkinson, Emma, Lily and Charlie Cressman, Isla and Cali Hummel, Thatcher Williams, Max, Sophia and Hadley Dean. Marie is survived by her sister, Shirley Brunk and her sisters-in-law, Ludena Lotz and Beatrice Kaufman. She is remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families. Marie is predeceased by brothers Carlton and Richard Lotz, sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie and John Wettlaufer and Evelyn and Walter Yungblut. She was loved and predeceased by Don's brothers and sisters and their spouses. A service to celebrate Marie's life will be held at Hebron United Church, 16th line, Township of East Zorra-Tavistock on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. The Reverend Jane Van Patter will officiate. A reception will follow. Interment at Ratho Cemetery will follow the reception.
