Full Text

With deep gratitude for the long life she shared with us, the family of Irene van Amerom (née Cooke) announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Oma and Great Oma. Irene was born in Indonesia on October 9, 1926 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 28, 2019 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband Frederik (Frits) van Amerom (May 2012) and her son Eric van Amerom (April 2019). Dear Mother of her children Lodewijk (Annette), Eric (Helen), Roy (Denise), René (Ann) and Patricia (Henry Meyers). Remembered fondly for her jokes and Dutch-Indonesian treats by her grandchildren Joshua, Gudrun, Uriah, Jesse and Niels; Harold, Deborah, Jenna and Christopher; Marcel, Allison and David; Lise and Brit; Steven and Nathan. Great Oma leaves behind many great-grandchildren. Irene will also be lovingly remembered by extended family in the Netherlands and members of her congregation in Woodstock. The family would like to express their appreciation for the caring and compassionate staff at Oxford Gardens, which she called home for most of the last six years, as well as members of her congregation for their support. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date and additional details will be made available once established. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society Canada or Diabetes Canada.
