Joyce and George met while they both worked for Canada Immigration in Niagara Falls, and they moved to Woodstock in 1958 when George relocated. Joyce worked at the Children's Aid Society of Oxford County and the Woodstock General Hospital Vance Building. She enjoyed travelling across the world with sister Margaret and Mom Louise, sharing wonderful times together and countless stories told about their adventures. She spent many years playing bridge and scrabble with friends. Joyce had a delightful sense of humour and was a great storyteller. She loved to reminisce about her childhood experiences at her favourite place, Springwater, where she spent her youthful summers. Joyce was the "matriarch" member of a Red Hat Society in Woodstock, thoroughly enjoying her outings with the ladies. She loved attending the Wednesday sessions of Learning Unlimited Oxford, her daily walks, and frequent visits to the Woodstock Library. Joyce was an incredible lady! She touched so many during her life and will be so dearly missed.
The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the staff at Park Place Retirement Residence where Joyce resided for over 3 years, and to the Woodstock General Hospital where wonderful care and compassion were provided.
Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life was held at the BROCK & VISSER FUNERAL HOME, Woodstock, 519-539-0004. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Woodstock General Hospital (Palliative Care), or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
