CARTER, Jim - 1961 - 2018 After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at his home in Delhi, on Monday September 10, 2018. Beloved husband of Cheryl (Scarrett), proud father to Jessie, Jamie (Niki), Joe (Ashley), and Morgan. Treasured grandpa to Braxton, Madison, Rissa, Seth, and Haylie. Jim was predeceased by his infant son Jeffrey (1986), his grandson Jackson (2009), his mother Mary Carter (August 2015), his father-in-law Ross Scarrett (December 2013), and his brother-in-law Terry Scarrett (May 2016). Survived by his father Roy Carter, sisters Sharon Smith (Don), Diane Clark (Lawrence) and by his mother-in-law Ella Mae Scarrett, sister-in-law Darlene Demaiter (George) and by several nieces & nephews, as well as aunts & uncles. Jim was employed at Hobart Brothers ITW for over 30 years and upon retirement continued to manage his rental properties, as in his words was "Living the Dream". Jim touched the lives of many people with his positive attitude, generosity, and his kind-hearted nature; with this, he had the ability to form countless meaningful friendships. Jim had a one of a kind sense of humour that brought many laughs. We were blessed to learn several valuable lessons from him. He will forever be in our hearts and in our memories. Thanks to Juravinski Hospital Staff and Dr. Ruo, Norfolk General Hospital, Dr. Martin-Godelie and nurses, Delhi Community Health Centre, Dr. Nunn and staff, VON, CarePartners, LHIN, Steadman Community Outreach Team, occupational therapists, Delhi Pharmasave and Kyle, and RT Respiratory for making it possible for Jim to be at home. Lastly, a warm thank you to family and friends who have provided continuous heartfelt support and sympathy. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582 - 1290 for Celebration Wake on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Mental Health Association or The Who Did it Club will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
