LUMSDEN, Margaret Ann Beatrix (nee Tatham) - June 30, 1928 - August 22, 2018 A lifelong Liberal and the original Billy Jo girl, Margaret Lumsden was fun-loving, very determined, occasionally hilarious, super friendly, hospitable and devout and confident in her faith. She ‘contained more generosity of spirit than 9/10s of the world by actual measurement’. Margaret died peacefully surrounded by her family after celebrating her 90th birthday at the end of June and the wedding of her first grandchild to be married (Ellen) on August 6th. Margaret was pre-deceased by her husband, Bill (1997), her parents, C.O. and Anna J. J. Tatham, her brothers, Charlie, George and Sid (Marnie) Tatham, her sisters, Libby Davis (Ian) and Ellen Tatham, and Bill’s brothers Bob (Ruth) and George (Betty). She is survived by her children Ann (John Vanden Elzen and Lynda), Mary (Steven Tosh), Jean (Andy Dunstan and Chris (Lindsay) and Becky), Maggie (Steve Bolger and Ellen (Riley) and Andy) and Tom (Jana Lumsden and Will, Isabelle, Georgia Ann and Ruth). She is also survived by sisters in law, Dr. Ruth Tatham and Millie Tatham. Born in Woodstock, Ontario, Margaret was a long-time resident of Toronto (Scarborough and Willowdale), Edmonton and, since 2005, Canmore, Alberta. She attended the University of Western Ontario graduating in 1951 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing after training at her beloved Toronto Western Hospital. She volunteered as a nurse at Camp Big Canoe and the first Camp Tim Horton. Margaret also sang in church choirs, did people’s colours, was Bill’s art sales director and loved her grandchildren more than anything. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church, Canmore on Saturday, September 8, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Canmore. If desired, donations may be made to Ralph Connor Memorial United Church or Agape Hospice (1302 8th Ave NW Calgary T2N 1B8). Margaret has donated her body to science. The family may be reached at lumsden.elzen@gmail.com.
