CLYNICK, Kenneth George - In his 88th year. Ken died at home as he had hoped, with his family, on August 23, 2018. Born in Woodstock, ON May 4, 1931 to Gwen and George Clynick. Predeceased by two sisters Marjorie Eckenstein (George) and Mary Martin (Wally), both formerly of Woodstock, and, in a tragic accident (1990), by his son Peter, aged 21. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Ken is also survived by his wife of 61 years, Janeen (née Waring), and his children, David Clynick and wife Patty, Nancy and husband Brian Budarick, Jill Lisiecki, Mary Helen and husband Ernie Herrington, Jennifer Clynick, and his grandchildren, Dr. Meghan Clynick (husband Dr. Zach Gowanlock), Artie Budarick (partner Hayley McIntyre), Darian Budarick, Brett Lisiecki, Bailey Lisiecki, Brayden Lisiecki, Lee Herrington (partner Leanne Regier), Alli Herrington (partner Josh McConnell). Ken graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Physical, Health & Recreation Education (1956), and Ontario College of Education (1957). He began his teaching career in Meaford, ON and then spent 30 years in Clinton, ON primarily as Department Head of Physical Education at CHSS. He encouraged, inspired and challenged multiple generations and was respected and loved by both staff and students. He set an example by living fitness and participating over his lifetime in soccer, football, tennis, badminton, cross country and downhill skiing, running, swimming, biking, skating, sailing, and windsurfing; he played both hockey and squash until he was 81. Over his lifetime Ken's interests varied from sports, including planting and maintaining thousands of trees on their "beautifully reforested" tree farm. He and his family built 3 houses, he grew grapes and made wine, he loved camping, always had a dog, travelled, enjoyed the beach at the cottage, whittled and made twig furniture - a unique, long, full life! According to Ken's wishes he has been cremated and there will be no funeral. For everyone who wishes to join the family there will be a sharing of memories at The White Carnation, 79867 Parr Line, Holmesville, ON, Saturday September 8, 2018 from 2-6 pm. Eulogies 3 pm. No flowers please. If desired, donate to World Vision. Arrangements entrusted to CREMATION LONDON & MIDDLESEX , 519-858-2467.
