FULLICK, Henry J. - Henry James Fullick, 98, of Hickson, a well known area resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Stratford General Hospital, surrounded by family. Henry was a member of one of the pioneer families of Oxford County. He was the only son of the late Charles and Louisa (Junker) Fullick. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elsie Turton on October 4, 2013 and by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Duff Wilson. He was the last surviving member of his family. Henry was the manager of the Borden Dairy in Hickson prior to its closure. He was very active in community affairs... Henry was a member of the Hickson United Church for over seventy-five years and at various times served on the Board of Stewards and as a Church Elder. He was a member and Past Master of Tavistock Lodge #609 A.F. & A.M. where he received his 65 year pin in April 2015. He held many executive positions as well as serving as Lodge Secretary for 34 years. Henry served his country during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Air Force and later became a member of Tavistock Branch #518 Royal Canadian Legion where he had served in every executive position and for many years was the Poppy Chairman and organized the annual poppy campaign. Henry was a member of the first Hickson Volunteer Fire Department and served the department for over 20 years. He was a member of the Hickson Parks Board and the Hickson Library Board; a member of the "Quality Club", a dairy improvement association. In June 2000, he was recognized for a lifetime of community service by being named "Citizen of the Year". In 2012, Henry was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. Henry is survived by his three children, Paul of Toronto, Nancy (Sherman) Kropf of Hickson, John (Jane) of London, by grandchildren, Tricia (David) Johnson of Tavistock, Bradley (Michelle) Kropf of Woodstock, Eleanor and Sarah Fullick, Alice (Alex) Lozon, all of London; by great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cara and Michael Johnson, of Tavistock. Relatives and friends will be received in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Elizabeth Stewart will officiate. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock will follow the reception. A service auspices of Tavistock Memorial Branch #518 R.C.L. will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 6:45 p.m. followed by a service auspices of Tavistock Lodge #609 A.F. & A.M. at 7 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hickson United Church, Hickson Fire Department or Tavistock Branch #518 R.C.L. would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.
