STROTHARD, James "Jim" - Our dear father passed away at the Woodstock Private Hospital on Thursday April 6, 2017 in his 97th year. Dad was the beloved husband of the late J. Fern (nee Thompson) Strothard (2015) and the last surviving child of Henry and Emma Strothard, dear brother of Kathleen, Egerton and Alecia. He was the cherished father of Barbara Strothard, Joan Strothard (Gordon Creber), Janet Beaubien (Brian) and loving grandfather to Sheila Beaubien, Chantal Miedema (Joel) and Paul Beaubien. A gentle, quiet and generous father and grandfather, Jim was born in Chatham, New Brunswick (September 10, 1920). He worked for the Royal Bank for 41 years in several maritime locations as well as Quebec and Ontario where he met and married our mother in 1953. Our dad left Halifax harbour on Christmas Eve to serve in WWII, leaving vivid memories as it did with many of his generation. The family would like to thank Dr. Neal and the nursing staff at the Woodstock Private Hospital for their care and support. A private time of remembrance will take place later, with interment in the Hillview Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated and may be arranged through the BROCK AND VISSER FUNERAL HOME , Woodstock, 519-539-0004.
