HENRY, Allan MacKay (Hank) - Air Force Master Corporal Allan MacKay (Hank) Henry departed on the last flight out of Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Born to Melvin (Mel) and Ann Black Henry in Kirkland Lake on May 24, 1936, Hank lived in many towns in Northern Ontario during his childhood as his father was an accountant for various mining companies, finally settling in Bancroft where his parents lived out their lives. In 1958, Hank joined the Air Force and, over the course of 22 years, served in Germany, Montreal, Ottawa and North Bay, retiring in 1980 when he moved to Innerkip, Ontario, lured by the milder winters which he was promised. Proud father of Kelly (Michelle), Joe (Annette) and Scott (Linda). Beloved grandfather of Andrew (Suzanne), Adam (Tarryn) and Mychelle Henry, Allison and Sarah Henry, Marissa and Tabitha Henry. Remembered fondly by his good friend, Mary-Margaret Braund. Predeceased by his parents and former wife, Doreen (1994). During his years in Innerkip, Hank worked for Gord Anderson Pontiac/Buick and drove a school bus for Scott Bus Lines. He enjoyed 20 years of cottage life on Nine Mile Lake in Muskoka and then really appreciated the warm winters in Sarasota, FL. Hank made friends wherever he went and was known for his great jokes. Once his flight landed, we are pretty sure there was quite a reunion going on upstairs. Safe journeys, Hank! We love you! xxoo Cremation has taken place. There will be a 'Celebration of Life' at The Innerkip Arms on Saturday, April 29, 2017, 2 to 5 pm. Please join us and bring your best stories about Hank. "Do not weep because he is gone; smile because he lived."
