KARN, Alan (AL) Grant Born in Woodstock, ON, passed in Calgary, AB. Al is survived by son Myles Karn (Katie), daughter Ashley (Chad Hunter), and grandchildren Addison, Brooklyn, Hannah and Lauren. Al's career paths included that of an Air Traffic Controller and Commercial Pilot/Instructor for over 20 years and more recently as Store Manager of a retail chain. Upon graduating from Woodstock Collegiate Institute he trained and served as an Operational Air Traffic Controller at Ottawa International, Rockcliffe STOLport, Toronto International, Vancouver International, Victoria International, Prince George and Penticton. He was also Course Director of Ab Initio Training at the Transport Canada Training Institute in Ottawa, Supervisor of Vancouver Control Tower, Human Resource Specialist for the Air Traffic Services Pacific Flight Information Region, and Control Tower Manager in Prince George and Penticton. Al won a 13 year battle against severe c spine degeneration but most recently was fighting the symptoms of polycystic kidney disease. He wanted to recognize the excellent care provided over the years by Dr. P. Cobbin (Penticton), Dr. W. J. Snelgrove (Toronto), Dr. P. K. Van Peteghem (Oakland CA), Dr. L. Kastrukoff (Vancouver UBC), Dr. C. Fell and Dr. C. Thomas (both Calgary U of C), and Dr. R. Dandugula (Calgary).
