McKAY, J. Ronald - John Ronald McKay, 97, of Tavistock passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Woodstock Private Hospital. He was born at Lot 30 Con. 10 of East Zorra-Tavistock on May 6, 1918 the eldest son of the late William John McKay and the former Margaret Amelia Bull. Ronald served in the R.C.A.F. during World War II, was a member of Tavistock Memorial Branch #518 Royal Canadian Legion where he was a life long member having received his 50 year pin. He had been the Sergeant-of-arms of the legion branch for more than 25 years. He was also a member of Tavistock Lodge 1609 A.F. & A.M., a member of South Gate Seniors Centre, Woodstock and a member of Grace United Church in Tavistock. He was predeceased by two wives, the former Marjorie Langdon in 1972, the former Faye (Dunn) Vollmershausen in 2005. He is survived by his seven children, Don and wife Carol McKay, Marg and husband. Robert Figg, Jane McKay, Doug and wife Cathy McKay, Deb and husband Mike Campbell, Bruce and wife Jane McKay, Lorraine and husband William Quehl; 25 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; his wife Faye's children. and their families; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Arthur Townson, Marion and Charles Stahn, Ella May Rutherford-Stuart; his sisters-in-law Fay McKay, Marlene and husband Robert Steinacker; several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his wives, he was predeceased by his great grandson, Roan Douglas Martin; sister, Anna Beryl and husband Willis Bean; brothers, Bruce McKay and wife Doreen; Lloyd McKay and wife Helen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Rutherford, Tom Stuart, Jack and Ann Langdon, Mildred and Ken Murray, Robert Langdon, Eleanor Langdon. Relatives and friends will be received in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Grace United Church, Tavistock on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mary Stewart will officiate. Interment in McTavish Cemetery. A service auspices of Tavistock Branch 518 R.C.L. will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Grace United Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or Tavistock Legion Branch 518 would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431
