EDWARDS, Frederick Arthur - Passed away, after a courageous struggle, with sudden onset illness, on Thursday, February 19th at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, (Fred) Frederick Arthur Edwards, a longtime resident of Courtland, at the age of 71, with his loving wife Heather and family by his side. Born in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Fred had a dedicated teaching career spanning thirty-one years, beginning at St. Bernadette Catholic School, Ajax, then later at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Ingersoll, St. Joseph's Catholic School, Tillsonburg, and St. Patrick's Catholic School, Woodstock. Fred was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg and the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus #3212. Much loved husband of forty-three years of Heather Joan (McDonald) and loving father and father-in-law of: Brendan (Veronika), of Regina, Sask.; and Meaghan (Mark Rosehart), of Tillsonburg. Proud and loving grandfather of Kaylyn and Brianne. Fred is survived by four sisters: Joyce (Frank Thorington), Orillia; Freda Williamson, Victoria, B.C. and the late Stewart; Anne Edwards, Woodstock; and Jackie (Robert Messinger), St. Catharines, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Frederick (1976) and Isabel Margaret (1997). In keeping with Fred's expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. There is no funeral home visitation. Friends, neighbours and relatives are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 23rd at 11:00am at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Tom Ferrera. Luncheon to follow in Church basement. Private Family Inurnment later in the Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium. All funeral arrangements entrusted, with confidence, to the VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOME , 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg (519)842-4238. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable (by cheque only) to the "St. Mary's Church Building Fund" or the "T.D.M.H." or any charity of your choice through the Verhoeve Funeral Home, Tillsonburg
