McGREGOR, Leona P. - Leona Pauline (Berg) McGregor, formerly of Tavistock, passed away at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll, following a brief illness, on Friday, August 8, 2014 in her 91st year. Immense gratitude goes out to Dr. Chawla for his remarkable practice of palliative care medicine and to the nurses and PSWs of Leisureworld Ingersoll for the care and friendship they provided to Leona during her residence there. Leona was born in North Easthope Township, Perth County (at Amulree) on March 19, 1924 a daughter of the late John and Annie (Koch) Berg. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock and the Lutheran Church Women (LCW). She married Wilfred A. McGregor on July 5, 1947 and together they farmed at Lot 28, Concession 12 of East Zorra Township, Oxford County until they retired and moved to Tavistock in March of 1996. Wilfred died on January 22, 2011. Leona is survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna McGregor of Sweaburg; granddaughters, Bridget McGregor (Young Sam Lee) of Seoul, South Korea and Ainsley McGregor of Pullman, Washington, U.S.A.; great grandson, Gregor Lee of Seoul, South Korea; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Yecny, Helen McGregor and Marlene Berg, all of Tavistock. She was predeceased by her son, Glenn McGregor (2007); her daughter, Shirley McGregor (1948); her brothers, John, Oscar and Raymond Berg; her sisters, Frieda (Alvin Dotzert), Lorna (Alfred Schmidt), Louise (Charles Miles), Marjorie (Bill Montgomery), Audrey (Len Molyneaux) and Florence Berg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Gladys McGregor, Howard McGregor, Pearl and Wesley Noack, Lenore and George Wilhelm, Violet and Ralph Wiffen and Rudy Yecny. Relatives and friends will be received in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Friday from 2-4p.m. The funeral service will be held in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11a.m. The Rev. Richard P Brown will officiate. Interment in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. A reception with a light lunch will follow.
