Don established many treasured lifelong friendships with fellow Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) '53 graduates. He was an active member of the church communities of Chalmers United Church and St. David's United Church in Woodstock. Don loved the land and was proud to have been the fourth generation in his family to farm in Oxford County. In the years following his retirement from active farming, Don became a skilled furniture and cabinet maker as well as a restorer of antique furniture. Local history and family genealogy were areas of great interest and Don devoted many hours to research of these topics. When asked, Don would readily tell you he'd had a good life. His proudest accomplishment was his family and the values he helped establish in its members through his very fine example. He will be fondly remembered by many. A funeral service will be held t 11:00 am on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at St David's United Church, 190 Springbank Avenue, Woodstock, ON N4S 7R1.
