ECKSTEIN, Katherine M. - Katherine Mae Eckstein, 83, of Tavistock passed away in the Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County on September 1, 1930 a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Roth) Mutch. Katherine had been a ledger keeper at C.I.B.C. in Tavistock; she was a member of Grace United Church in Tavistock where she had served as superintendent of the Sunday School. She always had a great love for children and animals. She is survived by her husband, Donald Gerald Eckstein, whom she married sixty-five years ago on July 2, 1949; two children, Michael and wife Cindy Eckstein, Gail and husband Jim Brecht, all of Barrie; five grandchildren, Adam Brecht and Meagan Hoyle, Justin Brecht and Crystal Greig, Jessica Eckstein and Rob Milligan, Kim and Michael Moreau, Alexander Eckstein and Melanie Earle; six great grandchildren, Rylan and Benjamin Brecht; Aliyah, Callie, Hayden and Emmett Eckstein; her sister, Audrey Schlitt of Whitby, her sister-in-law, Ruth Mutch of Tavistock; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barry and Brenda Eckstein of Stratford. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Ruth Mutch, Fred Mutch, Donald and Dorothy Mutch; by sister and brothers-in-law, Jean and Ken Gregory, Harold Schlitt and Morris Masters. Relatives and friends will be received in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mary Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in Grace United Cemetery, Tavistock. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Tavistock Community Health Inc. or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 1-519-655-2431.
