MARTIN, John Joseph - 69, of Midlothian VA, born in Cambuslang, Scotland, June 22, 1944 went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2014 while surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Martin and his brother Thomas Stewart Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda , children, Kim (Doug), John (Sue Ann) and Courtney (James), sisters, Dorothy (Gene), Elizabeth and Valerie, grandchildren, Ryan, Donovan, Chelsea, Andrew and Christian as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and worldwide friends. He is also survived by his Aunt Anne, his mother-in-law, Norah, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Seth and Susan. John immigrated to Woodstock,Ontario, Canada at the age of 19 where he lived for 30 years before moving to Midlothian VA in 1994. John was passionate about his work. He was employed by Timberjack (John Deere) for over 41 years traveling extensively worldwide and loved every minute of it. He was an avid and talented soccer player and played professionally in Scotland and for 12 years for the Ingersoll Flyers in Ontario, Canada where he was the president of the league for 10 of those years. He also loved to play golf and was an active member of the Brandermill Country Club in Midlothian VA and previously a member at Craigowan Country Club in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. A celebration of John's life will be held at the Brandermill Country Club on Brandermill Parkway on Sunday, May 4. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. and a memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Center, The Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. Burial to follow in Woodstock May 31. A second notification to follow a week prior. On line condolences may be left for the family at timberjack2010@gmail.com
