STRINGER, Edward William - "You'll Never Walk Alone" The game has come to an end and the player of the Match has decided to hang up his kit! Cheers to you Ted Stringer (aka. . . Father Ted). In his 76th year, Ted passed away peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital. Loving husband of Jean Stringer-Brain and predeceased by his beloved Sheila (nee Crossland) in 1997. Adored father of Deb (Bob) Roloson. Tracy Ditchfield (Chris Lazarus), and Cathy (Doug) Mann, and cherished grandad of Darryl, Brian (Jen), Jessica (Mike), Shane, Kelsey, Katie (Taylor), Zach, and Dylan (Katie). Loving great-grandad to Makenna and Jesse. Waiting for him in heaven is his beloved granddaughter Cassandra. Also remembered by step children Mel (George), Lyndon and families, as well as brother in law Roy and Margaret and family. His Liverpool family and friends will treasure fond memories, especially siblings Sonya, Norma, Glyn and Tony (predeceased). Ted was a member of the Oxford Naval Veterans Association and served in the Merchant Marines from 1954 to 1960. He had many amazing stories of his travels around the world and he took great pride in his role on the Merchant Ships. Ted did not ask for much, he just wanted to watch his soccer, have a nice cup of tea (maybe an occasional Guinness) and to have his family stop by to visit. He appreciated the help of the CCAC and Red Cross Workers, and especially his nurse Scott Gould. Thanks to you all for your hard work and dedication. As per Ted's wishes, there will be no funeral/visitation, but the family would welcome friends and family to a celebration of his life on Thursday, April 17th from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. (short service commencing at 5:00 p.m.) at the Navy Club on James St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Cancer Society (Woodstock Branch). "Hail Hail the Gang's All Here!"
