He is survived by his daughter Barbara (Ed McIsaac) and his son Allan (Jeannette Kent) as well as grandchildren, Adam, Allison (Garrod) and Jacob McIsaac and Jason and Megan Wisby. He is survived by 5 Great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gord was born in Stratford Ontario, in February of 1915, the oldest son of Ben and Mary Wisby (nee Cook). He grew up in Stratford and on the Cook family farm in Northeast Hope Twp. He spent much of his teenage years helping out on the farm during the Depression. During the War he met his wife Alice, a resident of Woodstock, Ontario, where he then moved and began a career in the automotive and then trucking industry. During his early years in Woodstock, he was active in the Oxford Rifles as a Sergeant-major and served as the Regimental Drum Major for a number of years in the 1950's. After retirement, he and Alice spent many years travelling North America in their motor home, seeing new places and meeting new friends. Gord lived on his own in Woodstock well into his 90's and then moved to Ottawa to be closer to his daughter and her family. He lived first at the New Edinburgh Square Retirement Home and then at the Glebe Centre Long Term Care Facility. The family wishes to thank the staff at both facilities for their kind and compassionate care and the wonderful opportunity Gord was given to live out his life in a comfortable and dignified way. Particular thanks to his long time caregiver, Imelda Galano. Funeral Arrangements are in the care of SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME , 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock, Ontario N4S 6P7.
