Together with Rita, his British bride, he returned to Burgessville to farm, raise a family and make a difference to every life he touched. Les will be lovingly remembered for his gentle manner, his generosity, his smile, his sense of humour, and the way he used his many talents to make his community a better place to live. Beloved husband and best friend of Rita (Bannister) for 67 years. Loving father of Brian (Marie), Gerald (Aila) of Thunder Bay, Michael (Lori), Marilyn Lichti (Larry), and Carolyn Buckrell-Smith (D.J.). He is survived by his brother Philip, sister Joy Mather, and sister-in-law Ruby. Predeceased by his parents John and Ada and his siblings Maurice, Fred, Wilfred, Maisie Wheatley and Maida McCutcheon. Heartfelt thanks to the very special doctors, nurses and volunteers at Oxford Gardens, Sakura House, and Woodstock Hospital for their compassion, thoughtfulness and excellent care.
